The Compensation Specialist is responsible for leading the development, execution and monitoring of total rewards programs and initiatives in alignment with sector and company strategies and priorities. Reporting to the Manager, Total Rewards this role requires an individual who thrives on challenge, is analytical and organized with a passion for HR and Total Rewards data, with a proven track record of successfully partnering with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, to position PCL as an employer of choice.
Here's how a Compensation Specialist for our Edmonton NAHQ office contributes to our team:
**Responsibilities**:
- Leads execution of the project management process, and support of company-wide Total Rewards programs and initiatives.
- Conducts research, analysis, and program design, communication that includes the management of vendor relations in all areas of Total Rewards, including compensation, retirement savings, benefits, and expatriate benefits, disability, and employee assistance programs.
- Develops, monitors, updates, and communicates project schedules to track tasks, deadlines, and milestones.
- Provides education, analysis, and other support related to Total Rewards as needed and produces monthly/quarterly/annual reports for a variety of stakeholders.
- Responsible for the administration of Total Rewards documentation (guides, FAQs ,forms, etc.), ensuring it is relevant, current, and easily accessible.
- Responsible for the administration of the annual compensation review, including salary and short-term incentive components, and able to plan, coordinate, and administer complex administrative processes using advanced Excel skills.
- Supports district and regional HR teams with position description documentation and job evaluations for new and updated positions.
- Collaborates with other corporate departments and the HR Leadership team to ensure alignment with priorities and initiatives.
- Develops and maintains strong, customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders.
**Qualifications**:
- Postsecondary diploma or degree in human resources or related discipline.
- 7 years of progressive experience preferred.
- Working towards relevant designation preferred.
- Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable systems. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills a must.
- Demonstrated understanding of principles, practices, procedures related to Total Rewards and applicable legislation.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment in a highly matrixed organization.
- Strong organizational skills, high level of detail orientation, and ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting deadlines.
- Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to conduct program assessment, market data analysis, job evaluation, and program-related trend statistical analysis.
- Seen as a trusted advisor with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
- Ability to understand and interpret stakeholder needs and make recommendations that support the project objectives.
