**Position Summary**:
The Large Format Print Operating Assistant supports the day-to-day operation of large format print equipment, assisting the lead operator in ensuring jobs are printed to specification, on time, and to quality standards. This role includes material handling, machine setup assistance, maintenance tasks, and post-print processes such as trimming and sorting. Experience or familiarity with dye sublimation printing is considered a strong asset.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Assist in the setup and operation of large format printers (e.g., roll-to-roll, flatbed, dye sublimation)
- Load and unload print media (fabric, vinyl, rigid substrates) and ensure proper alignment
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as nozzle checks, head wipes, and media calibration under supervision
- Monitor print jobs for quality, accuracy, and colour consistency
- Help manage the flow of printed material to the next production step (cutting, sewing, finishing)
- Maintain a clean and organized print area, including proper material storage and waste handling
- Assist in tracking inventory levels of media, ink, and other supplies
- Follow safety procedures and report any equipment issues promptly
- Communicate effectively with the print team and other departments to ensure a smooth workflow
**Qualifications**:
- Previous experience in a print production environment is preferred
- Familiarity with the dye sublimation printing processes is an asset
- Comfortable working around large format equipment and handling bulky materials
- Basic computer literacy; experience with RIP software is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- Ability to take direction, work as part of a team, and prioritize tasks
- Capable of standing for long periods and lifting up to 100 lbs
- Flexibility to adapt to shifting production needs and occasional overtime
**Working Conditions**:
- Fast-paced, production-oriented environment
- Exposure to inks, cleaning agents, and moderate noise levels
- Physically demanding, involving lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
**Compensation & Benefits**:
- **Hourly Pay: $19 - $22/hour**, based on experience and skill level.
