**Responsibilities**:
Coordinates the logístical affairs of the organization and ultimately the safe, timely and complete delivery of product. The function works within the sales/marketing group with the responsibility of planning and optimizing product movements in order to maximize the profitability of Factor.
The Scheduler will participate in planning and organizing the resource needs of the group including fleet sizing while working to identify potential market opportunities such as storage locations and short lines. This position stays abreast of new developments in the industry (particularly transportation related) and ensures that relevant changes are communicated to the organization. The Scheduler maintains and monitors the company’s relationships with transportation service providers within the rail, truck, terminal, and pipeline industry. The Scheduler will coordinate with the terminal scheduler to ensure fluid movement through Factor’s terminals and “keep dry” contracts. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to overseeing the fleet to ensure the following areas are maintained. 48 hour dwell, pool numbers, commodity and last contents of Factor cars, empty miles, accessorial charges such as empty freight.
1. Tank Car Management
- Track, Trace and monitor rail car movements.
- Comply with Regulatory safety, mechanical and security requirements. This includes tank car inspections, weight requirement.
- As necessary, canvas the tank car sublease market for opportunities to secure short term leases or to lease Factor rail cars to the market.
- Notify Manager of Transportation of any changes to “last contents” based on loading.
- Ensure rails cars meet the keep dry and pooled fleet utilization.
- Identify and advise manager of fleet shortages or length within fleets at any given facility.
- Work closely with logistics manager to strategize and execute an empty fleet plan.
- Divert loaded and empty cars based on business requirements.
2. Logistics Administrative Duties
- Receive freight rates from manager. Provide data to mid office for input into Entero
- Schedule truck, rail and pipeline shipments and provide stakeholder with associated shipment documentation.
- Enter truck, rail and pipeline bill of lading information into Entero and Factor Rail tracking spreadsheet.
- Forward, and file C of As to customer if required
- Submit monthly customs prices for border clearance purposes.
- Maintain and manage supplier shipments in Geometrix
- Provide stakeholder with Contract summary (volume, pricing) when required
- Advise back office as to when deals ready for invoice (fixed pricing)
- Collect necessary information to properly dispute/approve invoice(s) along or in cooperation with Accounting
- Track empty mileage, accrue for these expenses in conjunction with the logistics manager.
- Approve demurrage where applicable.
- Create and update processes as needed and approved by the Manager.
3. Representative
- Communicate and Coordinate.
- Contribute and communicate pertinent data and market information to form the Logistics portion of the Market Plan.
- Attend social and industry functions on behalf of Factor to gain industry knowledge and strengthen relationships.
4. Research
- Assist or initiate research on programs or procedures that could benefit Factor with a focus on transportation arbitrage.

Marketers - Constant communication with the marketing team, to ensure customer/supplier agreements are met, opportunities identified, and problems proactively managed.
Accounting staff - Sharing of information with the back office to ensure timely invoicing.
Customers - logistics or other contacts regarding transportation, storage issues or other related matters.
