**Salary Range**: $26.87 - $29.44 hourly
**Hours of Work**: 35 hours per week
**Classification**: CUPE Inside Class 5
**Status**: Temporary full-time - up to 9 months

**The Opportunity**:
The Planning Technician is responsible for the processing, technical review, research, tracking and monitoring
providing GIS, data management, mapping and graphic services and performing clerical support services, as
required.

**What you will do**:

- Undertake processing, technical review, research, tracking and monitoring of Official Plan amendments,

plans of subdivisions, condominium descriptions, consents and zoning by-laws.
- Assist with research, collection and representation of data for background planning reports or special

projects.
- Provide GIS, data management, mapping and graphic services
- Work safely and in compliance with relevant statutes and regulations and within the safe work procedures

and directives as established by the District.
- Clerical support including responding to inquiries, word processing, data entry, records management and

administrative functions.
- Other related duties as assigned

**What you will need**:

- Graduate of a two (2) year Planning Technician Community College diploma, or equivalent
- Minimum of three (3) years’ progressively responsible experience in a planning, or related, environment,

including GIS software and data management experience
- Knowledge of Acts, legislation and regulations related to Planning, and the proven ability to work with the

processing requirements of legislation, regulations and geographic representation
- Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, analytical and communication skills as well as the ability to

handle a number of ongoing projects at one time
- Proven ability to carry out fieldwork
- A valid Ontario driver’s license
