**_Job Summary:_**

Reporting to the Home Environment Director, the Grocery and Cleaning person will be responsible for food deliveries as well as deep cleaning tasks in the commercial kitchen. Duties will include accepting food deliveries, checking orders for accuracy, good communication with the Home Environment Manager regarding items that are damaged or missing, putting away orders, keeping all food areas in the kitchen organized and cleaned, filling grocery orders for different areas of the building as well as maintain a deep clean schedule of the kitchen.

**_ WHAT YOU’LL DO:_**
- I care for the nutritional needs of our elders by putting away groceries and cleaning the kitchen in a courteous and prompt manner. I also make recommendations to the Home Environment Manager or Home Environment Director for changes to the menu based on customer feedback.
- I ensure that groceries are put away and the kitchen is cleaned, following approved food handling techniques.
- I make efficient and proper use of food, dietary supplies, dishes, and cutlery to control costs and assists in maintaining adequate inventories and ensure proper quality.
- I ensure that proper storage procedures are followed for food purchases and other supplies when deliveries come to the home. I communicate any problems with the order to the Home Environment Manager or Home Environment Director.
- I advise the Home Environment Manager or Home Environment Director of the need for new equipment and/or utensils and food purchase changes.
- I report the need for repairs in the kitchen promptly to the Maintenance Officer.
- I endeavour to be fiscally responsible with the equipment that is in my workspace to ensure that funds can be spent sensibly.
- May be required to perform other duties and functions related to this job description not exceeding above stated skills and capabilities.
- Other duties as assigned.

**_What You Need to Be Successful: _**
- Completion of Grade 12 high school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years experience is preferred
- Currently hold a food handling certificate
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, concern, and interest in providing quality care and service to elders.
- Ability to communicate with well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to fluently read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to speak another language is considered an asset.
- Ability to interrelate well with others and establish positive relationships with elders, their families, other staff members, volunteers, and the public.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a progressive change-oriented environment.
- Maintains interest in learning more about person-directed care.
- Ability to manage the associated physical, emotional, and psychological demands of the work involved.
