- Reporting to the Regional Manager, Communicable Disease, the Biologics Lead supports the ongoing coordination of Northern Health’s (NH) vaccine inventory and outbreak pandemic preparation and response, with particular focus on ensuring cold chain requirements and timely vaccine distribution practices are maintained to ensure a sufficient supply of viable vaccine. Ensures NH’s communities are equipped to store and monitor vaccines with plans in place to mitigate cold chain breaks, and vaccine wastage due to improper handling or ordering, or equipment or power failures. The Biologics Lead acts as a consultant to immunization program planners and community vaccine providers on the proper handling, storage, and monitoring of vaccines; and is responsible for the development and communication of resources that outline minimum standards and guidelines pertaining to vaccine management. Supports the implementation of the organizational strategies and coordinates the distribution of vaccine to key stakeholders, and evaluates the ongoing capability of NH, and the assigned HSDAs to respond efficiently to their vaccine needs. Key partnerships are with other members of Population and Public Health, Primary and Community Care leaders, Community Vaccine Providers, and BCCDC to coordinate, facilitate, and support the delivery of NH vaccination programs. Leads support staff as applicable.
- Starting salary will be approximately from $65,884 to $82,355 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.**Prince George** has a population of 89,490 (2021) local residents and is a service centre for approximately 320,000. **Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field plus a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of public health experience, working in a large health care organization, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
**Skills and Abilities**:
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Broad knowledge of current British Columbia immunization programs and vaccine products.
- Knowledge of new developments and trends in vaccine cold chain and inventory management and incorporates into the organization’s best practices accordingly.
- Effectively utilizes verbal, written and technological communication skills with a variety of audiences to obtain information, provide advice/information, deliver formal and informal educational sessions, and/or write technical reports.
- Fosters collaboration and effective working relationships with stakeholders that promote cooperative goals and contribute to an atmosphere of mutual respect.
- Knowledge of health care business systems, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of mass immunization emergency response plans.
- Applies continuous quality improvement strategies, tools, techniques, and indicators to identify potential interventions or solutions and effective evaluations of improved processes.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
