Graduate - FI Portfolio Analyst

A bit about the job:
Specifically, the role will provide you with a hands-on opportunity to (i) learn fixed income portfolio management; (ii) gain a broad understanding of the global fixed income markets; and (iii) become conversant with climate-solutions related investment strategies.

In this respect, you’ll work closely with our Canadian Fixed Income portfolio management team to assist in the active management of all Canadian portfolios. Additionally, you will liaise with our global ESG, Fixed Income and Credit teams, collaborating to support Aviva Investors’ climate ambitions. You’ll be providing regular market commentary, as well presenting portfolio themes and trends to the investment team. You will be monitoring portfolios daily from a risk assessment perspective. You’ll assist in the preparation and writeup of quarterly client investment reports.

You’ll be making recommendations for changes to portfolios arising from cash flow and index shifts, as well as assisting research analysts in the evaluation of new or existing securities. You will produce and maintain comparative valuation (“comp”) sheets and assist in the construction of pitchbooks.

As part of your work in this team you’ll be required to routinely present investment ideas to the portfolio management team.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

- You will have graduated from your Bachelor or master’s program in the past 12 months, and enrolment in the CFA program would be an asset.
- You will need to have a high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Excel, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Programming skills, e.g. Python
- You will be team oriented as well as being a self-motivated, self-starter.
- Well-developed problem solving and decision-making skills and the ability to work independently.
