The Sexual Assault Support Centre (SASC) at UBC is a part of the AMS, the Student Society of UBC Vancouver. The SASC is a professional service that has been operating since 2002. SASC has been committed to providing support services to people of all genders and identities who have been impacted by sexualized violence, including their support people. The SASC approaches sexual violence prevention through education, to shift perspectives and address systemic barriers, while also providing people with tools to respond supportively to those who are impacted.
The Educator II role leads the SASC in sexual violence and anti-oppressive education prevention. This position will address attitudes, behaviours, and develop curriculum and facilitate education to a wide variety of student and community groups to help end sexual violence with a specific lens and analysis for how other forms of oppression intersect with gender-based violence like sexual assault. The Educator II will also work closely with the Healthier Masculinities program to develop and oversee the development of a strong curriculum.
This is a unionized position with CUPE 1936, Community Social Services of Greater Vancouver.

Day-to-day as the Educator (II) will look like something like this:

- Facilitate, lead and participate in workshops and educational opportunities.
- Utilize, revise and lead workshops in rape myths and consent culture, responding to disclosures, SASC services, and more.
- Help managers co-facilitate professional workshops
- Plan, create and implement prevention and educational content through curriculum development.
- Facilitate and lead outreach activities on/off campus.
- Assist with training of the SASC volunteer program.
- Assist SASC staff with various administrative duties
- Assist with marketing and distribution of outreach materials.
- Attend staff meetings and supervisory meetings.
- Uphold the standards of confidentiality and respect.
- Work collaboratively with all of The SASC staff and volunteers.
- Work in collaboration with other campus stakeholders to develop and deliver educational curriculum.
- Represent The SASC with AMS, UBC and greater community.
- Develop and implement various programming and other means of community-based outreach, including the SASC annual art show, and other public awareness campaigns.
- Meet with external groups for collaborative projects and workshop requests.
- Assist with the development and consultation of campus campaigns, training, committees, and networks based on lived experience and an understanding of sexualized violence.
- Maintain education and outreach stats with the Assistant Manager, Education & Outreach
- Help assistant manager with education program planning
- Mentor and support part-time educators in their roles.
- Other duties as assigned.

**The ideal Educator (II) is someone who has**:

- Knowledge in sexual violence as a topic
- A diploma, undergraduate or graduate degree in the Social Sciences with a minimum of 2 years’ experience
- Have an anti-oppressive/intersectional feminist analysis of gender-based violence
- Experience in curriculum development for prevention education
- Excellent public speaking and engagement skills
- Experience in evaluating program delivery and efficacy.
- Experience developing and delivering curriculum in a post-secondary or youth-oriented environment
- Experience in social media and using digital platforms to engage participants
- Experience in conflict resolution and delivering challenging content
- Strong collaborative, communication and inter-personal skills.
- Ability to work independently while keeping team members, event speakers and other stakeholders informed and up to date with project-specific information
- Ability to uphold the standards of confidentiality and respect
- Strong organizational skills
