**Position Title**: Sensor Technician
**Employment Type**: Full-time
**Location**: Sudbury, ON
MAG Aerospace Canada is in search of a Sensor Technician to work in the Sudbury office. The Sensor Technician will work as a part of a team to collect and process geospatial data from a variety of aircraft platforms. This position will require the technician to work in office, lab and aircraft settings in various locations across the globe.
The Sensor Technician is responsible for pre-flight inspections of sensor equipment, operating sensors in flight and processing data during and post flight. The ideal Sensor Technician will be agile, thrive in high stress situations and comfortable working under tight deadlines as most products must be delivered shortly after landing.
**Your Responsibilities**:
- Operate sensor technology in accordance with published Standard Operating Procedures
- Work closely with the pilot to complete mission objectives as set out by the client
- Accurately and efficiently use various software packages (ArcGIS, ENVI, Global Mapper) to process, analyze and product deliverables
- Produce specialized GIS products using established templates and guidelines
- Assist with imagery collection mission planning
- Ability to accommodate international travel & deployments
**Your Qualifications**:
- Degree or Diploma in GIS and/or Remote Sensing
- Previous work experience in the field considered an asset
- 18+ years of age and accept that the work / services may have to be performed under adverse or hazardous conditions
- Prepared to deploy away from home base for extended periods of time
- Ability to fly in small aircraft in turbulent conditions for prolonged periods
- Strong skillset in photo interpretation and principals in IR imagery
- Strong technical and IT abilities (ability to troubleshoot on the fly)
- Strong time management and able to cope with very short timelines
- Ability to use checklists as well as working within the established procedures
- Safety-conscious and capable of working within an environment with a strong safety culture
- Self-motivated and requires little supervision but also able to work independently or part of a team
- Experience with various geospatial software and an intermediate understanding of basic coding
