**Job Description**:
We are looking for Enthusiastic, Driven, Outside of the Box Thinkers to help us grow our business. In the specialized role of Health and Safety Specialist you will be a valuable and key member of our Roofmart team.

Your role will be to facilitate all aspects of Health and safety ensuring proper policies and procedures are implemented and followed through. You will monitor operations to eliminate or minimize workplace hazards. You will report to the National Health and Safety Manager and will work closely with key members of the business.

You role will comprise of the following responsibilities:

- Follow corporate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at company facilities and jobsites
- Partner with National Health and Safety Manager to provide expertise and coaching aligned with Business Strategies
- Assist in developing, implementing, maintaining and improving Health and Safety programs to reduce workplace injuries and illnesses.
- Ensure hazards assessment program is being followed and maintained
- Conduct hazard assessments and workplace inspections; Recommend and/or implement corrective action
- Work with all branch teams to eliminate or reduce workplace hazards
- Conduct frequent visits to company facilities and jobsites
- Participate in incident investigations, ensure they are reported to appropriate authorities and corrective actions are taken in a timely manner to prevent recurrence.
- Liaise with third party claims management services provider to ensure claims are being properly managed.
- Respond to Health and Safety related queries
- Ensure Health and Safety related documentation is collected and maintained.
- Collect Health and Safety performance metrics and prepare reports as required
- Ensure Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are available and maintained
- Ensure provision of Health and Safety Orientation to all new employees.
- Update Training Matrix and ensure its maintained
- Assist in the preparation and updating of training materials for all new programs that meet established standards
- Understand Preventive Maintenance, Emergency preparedness / responsiveness, contractor programs.
- Assist in COR certification and maintain ongoing certification

You will possess the following skills and qualifications:

- Bilingual (French and English) will be preferred
- Post-Secondary Education in Health and Safety Management or related field
- 3-5 years of Health and Safety experience in construction, trucking or distribution environment will be an asset
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant Occupational Health and Safety legislation
- Ability and willingness to travel at least 50% of the time
- COR Internal Auditor qualification/working knowledge of COR is an asset
- Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, Word, and Windows Applications
- Strong communication skills and a team player
- Valid and clean Class G Driver's License
