Quality Assurance Lab Technician

**Summary of the Position**
Reporting to the QA/HACPP Supervisor, the Quality Assurance Lab Technician will be responsible for ensuring product specifications are met and enforcing company standards, policies, and regulations.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Perform appropriate laboratory test methods to analyze minerals, feed ingredients and fertilizer samples using Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICPOES)
- Evaluate & Review analytical data and generate lab reports
- Perform method verification, validations, and method development or modification
- Perform pH analysis on samples
- Moisture content with the use of a Moisture analyzer
- Perform manual titration methods
- Create /write SOPs, log sheets and other technical documents
- Conduct annual reviews of Sop’s & other technical documents
- Fill out non-conformances and implement corrective actions when necessary
- Create and monitor control charts and monitor technical records
- Participate in proficiency testing programs
- Perform daily routine analysis on samples provided by QA department
- Ensure the appropriate test methods and equipment is selected and available to carry out the necessary analysis
- Ensure all equipment in use is always calibrated and in good working condition
- Carry out routine maintenance on Lab instruments & Equipment
- Ability to work and carry out lab analysis and calibrations to meet the requirement of an ISO 17025 work environment
- Develop, maintain, and implement ISO17025 Quality systems
- Ability to work co-operatively/collaboratively with others as well as independently
- Collect samples in the packaging plant and warehouse if required
- Create certificates of analysis based on lab results when needed
- Participate in HACCP, SF/SF and SQF monthly meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned by the QA/HACCP Supervisor
**Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills**
- Lab Technician Diploma or BSc. in science
- Minimum of two years working experience in a laboratory
- Experience with ICP and other instrumentation would be an asset
- Good math, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Previous experience with Animal Feed Ingredients, Feed Additives, Fertilizers, Minerals & Pet Speciality Ingredients is a plus
**Work Environment**
- Office, Production, and Warehouse environment working with feed ingredients, fertilizers and macro minerals and pet products
- Warehouse environment may be exposed to noise, dust, and seasonal temperature changes
- Fast paced, demanding work
- This is an on-site position with remote environment flexibility on a need-to-need basis
