Parish Priest

**Job Title**: Parish Priest (Yoruba Speaker)

**Job Overview**:
The Parish Priest serves as the spiritual leader and administrative head of a local parish within the church. This role involves leading worship services, preaching and teaching the Word of God, providing pastoral care, administering sacraments, and overseeing the spiritual and operational needs of the parish community. The Parish Priest works closely with church staff, lay leaders, and the wider community to nurture faith, foster discipleship, and advance the mission of the church.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Worship and Sacramental Duties**
- Lead regular worship services including Sunday Eucharist, Holy Communion, and midweek services.
- Administer sacraments such as Baptism, Holy Communion, Confirmation, Marriage, and Last Rites.
- Deliver biblically sound, Spirit-led sermons that inspire, teach, and challenge the congregation.

**2. Pastoral Care**
- Provide spiritual guidance and counseling to parishioners.
- Visit the sick, elderly, bereaved, and housebound for prayer, comfort, and support.
- Be available for confidential counsel and spiritual direction.

**3. Leadership and Administration**
- Supervise and work collaboratively with church staff, wardens, and ministry leaders.
- Oversee the day-to-day administrative and financial operations of the parish.
- Chair or participate in parish council meetings and ensure timely reporting to the diocese.

**4. Community Engagement and Mission**
- Promote outreach programs that serve the local community and support evangelism.
- Represent the church in ecumenical and interfaith events when required.
- Encourage and mentor parishioners to actively participate in ministry and service.

**5. Christian Education and Formation**
- Support and/or facilitate Bible studies, catechism classes, youth discipleship, and adult Christian education.
- Equip church members for ministry through teaching, training, and mentoring.

**Required Skills and Qualifications**:

- Ordained priest in good standing with a recognized Anglican or Christian denomination.
- Demonstrated theological knowledge with a minimum of a Bachelor of Divinity or equivalent.
- Strong preaching, teaching, and pastoral skills.
- Ability to speak and preach in Yoruba.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Proven administrative and organizational competence.
- Compassionate, prayerful, and servant-hearted leadership.
- Ability to work with diverse age groups and cultures.
- Skilled in conflict resolution and crisis management.
- Computer literacy and ability to use digital tools for ministry are an asset.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Minimum 3 years of experience in parish ministry or similar pastoral leadership role.
- Continuing theological education or training in pastoral care, church leadership, or community development.
- Familiarity with church governance structures and liturgical traditions.
