**Responsibilities**:
The purpose of this position is to receive and register inpatients and outpatients in a professional, efficient and caring manner in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.

**Specific responsibilities include**:

- Admit, discharge and transfer patients
- Register outpatients for clinics, Day Surgery, Emergency
- Operate switchboard and direct calls as required to departments and patients
- Maintains current knowledge of alarm procedures
- Act as receptionist to the general public and other clients
- Generate, distribute and maintain daily/monthly statistical reports
- Accept financial payments, provide receipts, facilitate transport of receipts/payments to finance and maintain cash drawers
- Incumbent will utilize NShIS and CRT
- Other job related duties

**Qualifications**:

- Grade 12 plus graduation from an accredited secretarial or business course, or 1 year related clerical/secretarial experience required
- Medical Terminology Course
- One (1) year experience in the clerical field an asset
- Proficient keyboarding skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of Windows
- Good interpersonal and communication skills - a high degree of tact, judgement and confidentiality
- Ability to work independently, assess situations and seek resolution if possible, in accordance with District policies and procedures
- Ability to work in an area with frequent interruptions
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

**Salary Information**:
$20.09 - $21.90 hourly
