**Job Title**: Coordinator: Discover Trails
**Reporting To**: Director, Discover Parks
**Purpose**: To create self-guided resources that allow all British Columbians to experience new places and
activities, responsibly and safely
**Overview**:
Our mission is to inspire and empower people to enjoy and protect parks and Indigenous protected areas in BC, so that they flourish for now, for all, forever. We are the official charitable partner and conservation financing mechanism to the sixth largest system of parks and indigenous protected areas in the world, with over 1,034 parks and more than 26 million visits per year. Our goal is to create the greatest system of parks and indigenous protected areas in the world.
Discover Trails aims to enhance park experiences across British Columbia. It combines technology and inclusive design with traditional interpretive experiences to create unique and impactful outdoor experiences for park visitors. Through audio and/or visual mediums, users engage with a variety of topics while enjoying the natural space. The program fosters partnerships with stakeholders and community organizations, with a focus on promoting equitable access to natural spaces and fostering environmental stewardship.

**Role Summary**:
As the Discover Trails Coordinator, you'll be responsible for developing digital and in-park self guided experiences throughout BC's Parks. You'll ensure that these experiences are fun, keep joy at the center, and align with principles of inclusivity and accessibility, collaborating with diverse organizations to address barriers to access. Additionally, you'll oversee the coordination of contracted content creators and contribute to content creation yourself, ensuring that Discover Trail experiences are fun and informative for park visitors. Finally, you'll manage the integration of Discover Trail experiences into discoverparks.ca.
**Responsibilities include**:
- Develop and deliver enhanced park experiences throughout BC's Parks
- Foster partnerships with supporters, community organizations, and park agencies to promote Discover Trails initiatives
- Engage diverse communities to ensure inclusivity and accessibility in trail experiences, adhering to principles of universal design
- Coordinate with equity-diverse organizations to address barriers and promote inclusivity in trail design and features
- Oversee the development and integration of audio and visual media into trail experiences to create unique and impactful interpretive experiences
- Manage contracted content creators and contribute to content creation to ensure engaging and informative Discover Trail experiences
- Integrate Discover Trail experiences into ca to facilitate access for park visitors
- Collaborate with First Nations, community organizations, and tour operators to expand the Discover Trails network and bring experiences to local provincial parks
- Ensure alignment of Discover Trail initiatives with organizational goals and objectives
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in outdoor interpretation and trail development to inform program enhancements and innovation
- Connect with and contribute to respectful relationships with BC Parks and other park partners
- Report on metrics, accomplishments, risks, and opportunities, and make recommendations on new strategies and approaches
- Develop and recommend policies and processes where necessary to accomplish the mission and mitigate risk
- Contribute to a constructive, results oriented, and inspiring organizational culture
- Other duties as required
**Requirements**:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar position or related field
- Strong desire to build productive relationships with Indigenous peoples and local interest groups
- Proven ability to develop exceptional recreational programming
- Strong knowledge of BC’s cultural and natural history
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Strong writing skills with the ability to effectively review
