The position is a Tuesday to Saturday job.
- The Airdrie City View and Rocky View Weekly are part of the Great West Newspaper group. We provide competitive wages and benefits and pride ourselves on producing the highest quality newspapers.
- Main duties will include:

- Write & submit eight to 10 stories per week covering the issues in your assigned beat.
- Take photographs or supply art (submitted photos, charts, sidebars etc.) for every article
- Edit all of your own photos in Photoshop.
- Plan & coordinate the events you will cover & generate story ideas.
- Fill out templates & run sheets correctly & completely to ensure efficiency.
- Must be prepared & willing to drive & have a reliable car and drivers license to travel around your large coverage area.
- Ensure consistent provision of quality service & reporting to readers/clients at all times.
- Other duties will include, but will not be limited to:

Updating of Twitter and website as breaking news occurs & as you attend events.
- Checking of local Twitter, Facebook & website for story ideas.
- A strong social media presence.

**Qualifications**
- Completion of a degree or diploma in journalism or communications along with at least two years’ experience in a newsroom.
- A clear ability to be able to work effectively & efficiently as part of a team.
- Highly effective communication skills (written & verbal).
- Self-confidence & the ability to deal well with people in a fast-paced environment.
- Well organized & able to meet strict & tight deadlines.
- Creative flair.
- A high level of self-motivation & drive along with a passion to provide high quality reporting in a community-based organization.
