Real Estate and Development Services has an exciting opportunity for the Development and Planning Advisor in the ReThink Land Portfolio focusing on delivering City owned land for housing opportunities as part of 'Home is Here', The City of Calgary's Housing Strategy. The ReThink Land portfolio of work includes establishing comprehensive land asset management processes aimed to optimize and leverage surplus and underutilized City owned land to deliver on City and Council priorities.
Reporting to the Leader of Rethink Land, the Development and Planning Advisor's primary duties include:
- Provide planning and development advice on parcels that inform recommendations leading to real estate transactions.
- Lead value-added work required to prepare surplus City-Owned land for sale in the non-market housing land disposition program as assigned by the Leader of ReThink Land.
- Utilize knowledge of planning, design, development, and real estate market analysis to inform highest and best use analysis.
- Develop and maintain strong business relationships and partnerships with internal and external clients.
**Qualifications**
- A degree in Planning, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of progressively more responsible and varied real estate and land development experience.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Membership as a registered professional planner, engineer, or architect is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of land development including Pro forma analysis, approvals, design coordination, project management and construction practices.
- Ability to review development permit drawings, including architectural design and civil engineering elements are considered strong assets.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, problem solving, strategic planning, communication, and presentation skills.
