Community Program Assistant

Internal/External Job Posting

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Assist in setting up, and cleanup of various weekly programs and community events.
- Demonstrated skills in program planning, facilitation and evaluation.
- Work alongside programmers to facilitate various activities.
- Experience engaging with Seniors, Adults, families, youth and other vulnerable populations.
- Collect and analyze data to assess community needs and preferences.
- Support recruiting efforts for volunteers and program participants.
- Strong administrative abilities to handle various tasks efficiently.
- Experience in marketing strategies to promote community events.
- Perform work-related duties including answering phone calls, greeting community members and lifting/moving program equipment.

Qualifications:

- Previous experience working with culturally diverse populations in a community setting.
- Completion of high school and a post-secondary program in community service or a relevant  discipline.
- Broad knowledge of resources and services for people living in the Marpole community.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- A flexible and adaptable person who can work in sometimes challenging situations.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team setting.
- Clear criminal record check upon hire required.

Employment Terms:
This is a part-time (24hrs/week) one-year contract position with a possible extension of position dependent on funding. This position is on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am - 3pm with some possible evenings and weekends as needed.

Compensation: $20.21/hour + benefits package
