The Parksville Museum is hiring an enthusiastic and dynamic Summer Student to join our team for the 2025 summer season This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in museum operations, visitor engagement, and event coordination—perfect for building your resume and growing transferable skills.
**What You’ll Be Doing**:
As part of our summer team, you’ll contribute to a wide range of museum activities, including:
- **Visitor Services**: Welcome guests, provide information, and ensure a positive, memorable experience for all visitors.
- **Museum Tours**: Lead engaging tours of our exhibits and heritage buildings.
- **Exhibit Work**: Support research, curation, and the refreshing of exhibit displays using items from the collection.
- **Event Support**: Assist with organizing and running community events, concerts, and venue rentals (includes assistant with setting up tents, tables, and chairs).
- **Facility and Grounds Maintenance**: Participate in light cleaning, basic gardening, and routine upkeep of museum grounds.
- **Digital Media & Outreach**: Collaborate on content for social media, promotional materials, and public engagement campaigns.
- **General Museum Operations**: Open and close the site, manage placing signage, and help with special projects and administrative tasks.

- **Interest in Museums & Cultural Institutions**: Passion for heritage, museum operations, and preserving local history.
- **Arts & Culture Engagement**: Desire to contribute to cultural programming, exhibit curation, and arts-based community events.
- **Community Building**: Enthusiasm for fostering connections and supporting community-based initiatives.
- **Event Coordination**: Experience in or interest in organizing and executing exhibitions, performances, festivals, or educational programs.
- **Creativity & Initiative**: Comfort with proposing and executing new ideas for exhibits, events, or community engagement.
- **Customer Service & Hospitality**: Background in customer service, tourism, or public-facing environments, especially in cultural or museum settings.

**Job Details**:
- **Duration**: May 15 to August 25, 2025 (some flexibility to extend a few days)
- **Schedule**:, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM (35 hours/week), with occasional adjustments for evening work on a few events.
- **Wage**: $20.00 per hour
