Plate Roller

The Plate Roller is responsible for lifting steel plates of various sizes using an overhead crane with various lifting clamps, hooks, and chains to position the plate into a roll bending machine. The operator utilizes a control panel to operate the machine, which rolls the steel plate to shape it depending on the job requirements. The Roll Operator continually monitors the quality and shape of the product throughout the process, and checks that the final product meets the required dimensions

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Operate roll bending machine to bend metal plates and sheets into specified shapes.
- Adjust roll between each pass to form workpiece into specified shape
- Measure arcs with template to ensure accuracy
- Enter information of workpiece to be rolled into the system
- Position work pieces securely on the machine using a hoist or crane
- Identify equipment and material problems and advise supervisor accordingly
- Re-roll cylinders after welding to ensure quality
- Check roundness of finished cylinders to meet specifications
- Operate other shop machinery as required to meet production needs (e.g. waterjet table, pipe profiler)
- Adjust roll at an angle to form conical shapes as needed

**Experience / Competence / Skills / Knowledge**
- Experience as a plate roller or similar role
- Ability to operate a forklift and crane safely
- Strong understanding of geometry and physical properties of metal
- Proficient in reading and interpreting drawings
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately

Pay: $75,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
