The Hamlets has been providing residential care throughout British Columbia and Alberta since 1989. The Hamlets at Duncan is our newest location, with over 100 team members across all disciplines caring for and providing services to over 140 residents in long-term care and assisted living.

**THE OPPORTUNITY**
Full-time, Permanent Dietary Aide

The Hamlets at Duncan is looking for a team player who is self-motivated, creative, and outgoing to be part of our support services team.

Under the supervision of the Support Services Manager or the Cook in charge, the Dietary Aide is responsible for set up, service and cleanup of meals for all residents.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Serves meals to residents according to their dietary restrictions and individual preferences.
- Serves appropriate meals and beverages to residents in a way that encourages independent feeding, noting appetite changes, feeding difficulties and food preferences and reports this information to the supervisor.
- Participates in facility in-services and departmental meetings. Reads and understands relevant departmental and interdepartmental communications.
- Sets up the dining room and servery prior to meal service and cleans and sanitizes these areas following meal service.
- Operates the dish machine following correct procedures. Washes and puts away pots, pans, and other small wares and dishes.
- Understand the importance of and implementation of FIFO policies.
- Portions beverages, cereals, and desserts according to portion control consistent with the direction from the Cook.
- Brews coffee and tea.
- Dispenses nourishments for transfer to different areas.
- Performs basic food preparation under the direction of the cook (ie, peeling, cutting, portioning, plating)
- Maintains a safe work environment.
- Maintains sanitary conditions by routinely cleaning work areas and equipment and practices safe food handling techniques.
- Assists the cooks in receiving and storing food and supplies.
- Completes other assigned duties as requested by the Support Services Manager or the Cook in charge.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- Proof of COVID vaccination;
- Food Safe Certificate;
- Food service experience preferred, customer service experience required
- Must be in good health, able to lift up to fifty pounds and free from communicable diseases;
- Able to work under pressure in a warm, noisy environment;
- Must be well groomed and have high standards of personal hygiene;
- Must have the ability to communicate tactfully and maturely when working with residents, staff, volunteers and guests;
- Ability to read and write English and follow instructions.

**Salary**: $20.97 per hour
