**JOB SUMMARY**:
As a valued member of the team, the Cook demonstrates a commitment to resident safety by providing quality care in accordance with organization’s vision and mission.
Reporting to the Manager of Culinary Services, the Cook is accountable to manage basic aspects of food production, plate presentation and hospitality style dining to meet the dining needs of the residents in accordance with legislative requirements and organization standards.
The Cook is required to perform their duties in a manner consistent with the core values, ensure resident safety, and demonstrate customer service excellence.

**Requirements and Skills**:
- Must possess a Food Handler’s certificate
- Must be able to physically lift and transfer hot and heavy foods
- Be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must have knowledge of WHIMIS
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Must complies with all provincial and long-term care regulations while also establishing cook policies and procedures within the culinary department
- Must be able to assist in proper training of new cook employees
- Able to comply and follow all health and safety policies and procedures within the workplace and culinary department
- Friendly and good communication skills when dealing with residents and knows how to resolve questions/complaints or relays to appropriate staff
- Must be able to prepare food for resident service which includes; breakfast, lunch, dinner, salads, soups, desserts, etc.
- Must be able to follow proper food handling procedures
- Must maintain cleanliness in the Kitchen, Dish area, and prep station
- Must participate in special themed meals
- Must be able to report to the department manager/supervisor
- Needs to be able to work independently
- Is able to follow through with instructions
- Ensuring proper food safety and food storage
- Is able to take and record proper food temperatures and quantity
**This role is a full time role, 60 hours biweekly**

Pay: $18.63 per hour

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
