**Opportunity**
**Position**: The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society is seeking a **Humane Education Coordinator, Community Outreach Services - Durham Region**, a community-based position responsible for building relationships with local schools, marketing the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society Animal Smart Program, providing training facilitation to volunteers as well as in participating in regular classroom program delivery. As the main point of contact for schools, community groups, and volunteer facilitators, the Humane Education Coordinator is also responsible for the communication, scheduling, and training of volunteers as well as providing content updates to educational material to aid the Animal Smart Program.
**Status**: Full-time
**Location**: Based out of the Humane Society of Durham Region in Whitby, ON with opportunity for remote work. Expected travel throughout Durham region and surrounding regions.
**Essential Duties Snapshot**
**Humane Education Community Outreach**
- Reach out to schools and school Boards within assigned geographical area to share AnimalSmart program and generate presentation bookings
- Deliver marketing material for AnimalSmart Program to local schools during AnimalSmart presentations
- Coordinate with classroom teachers the delivery of AnimalSmart presentations including booking, answering questions related to the program, and seeking out and following up on feedback once program delivery has been completed
**Program Delivery and Facilitation**
- Learn and become proficient in delivering content of the Humane Education curriculum and resources.
- Coordinating and facilitating training for AnimalSmart volunteers, teaching the content and delivery of the AnimalSmart Program to ensure volunteers are confident in program delivery
- Deliver AnimalSmart program with volunteer teams or independently in the case of volunteers being unable to attend booked presentations
- Support the AnimalSmart Team with any challenges or last-minute changes to presentation scheduling
- Build and maintain relationships with local AnimalSmart volunteer team.
- Provide input as necessary related to content, on the resource material and training program.
- Prepare educational resource material to support the delivery of the humane education program.
- Fulfill administrative tasks as necessary. These include, but are not limited to: correspondence with teachers, volunteers, the creation of promotional materials, printing and laminating resources, and purchasing supplies (with specified budget).
- Facilitate bookings, create schedules, ensure required statistics and reports are completed.
- Collect and report on volunteer feedback.
- Report to Humane Education Manager and work collaboratively to support programming and improvements.
**Additional Duties and Responsibilities**
- Able to work on weekdays, evenings and some weekend hours to facilitate volunteer support and training.

**Do You Have What it Takes?**
- Post-secondary diploma in related discipline or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in volunteer management.
- Minimum of 3 years working with community programs or education program delivery.
- Comfortable and effective skills in public speaking and in animated delivery of presentations.
- Familiar with effective strategies to maintain classroom management of large groups of children.
- At least 1 year of experience working with children.
- Knowledgeable on the care of all types of pets; animal welfare issues and passionate about the welfare of animals.
- Understanding of the goals and priorities of the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to meet/interact with new people daily (i.e. school staff).
- Proficient in full Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint, Excel and Publisher
- Experience with Google Classrooms an asset
- Current police vulnerable sector check.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License with access to a vehicle and availability to travel throughout Ontario.
