**Location**: Business & Learning Technologies, 133 Greenbank Road, Nepean
**Nature of Position**: Regular, Full-time (100%),
**Hours of Work**: Monday to Friday, 7 hrs each day
**Salary range**: ESP, Level 6 - $43,749 to $55,890
Under the direction of the Team Lead - Network and Infrastructure, the Network Technician installs, maintains and upgrades supported networks and the network infrastructure in schools, including SD-WAN, LAN, Telecommunications, Wireless equipment and various network operating systems at all Board sites, schools and other designated sites.
Completion of Electronic Computer Technician/Technologist program from a recognized institution, and a minimum of 2 years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The completion of recognized vendor training (i.e. Extreme, Aruba, Fortinet, Cisco, etc.) and other general training focused on basic networking concepts; Operating Systems training (Microsoft/Linux/Mac/iOS/Android), CompTIA A Plus curriculum and other relevant designations would be an asset.
The incumbent must have a valid Class G driver's license to visit school sites.
Knowledge of relevant Board policies and procedures.
Experience with server, desktop, workstation and peripheral installations and service.
Ability to work with both Wired and Wireless hardware across various operating systems.
Experience with IEEE wiring standards and in basic network operations.
Interpersonal and communication skills are required to instruct users; to exchange, clarify and provide information; and to respond to inquiries with tact and diplomacy.
Organizational and time management skills are required to prioritize work and to manage multiple priorities and concurrent demands. Written skills are required to complete relevant forms.
Initiative and judgement in order to troubleshoot problems, make recommendations and take appropriate action.
Familiarity with the tools of the trade, such as cable testers, and crimping and punch-down tools. Ability to work independently, with mínimal supervision, and learn new materials and technology without instruction.
