West Island College (WIC) is a leading independent school with exceptional teachers, staff, and a close-knit community of over 600 enthusiastic learners in Grades 7 to 12. As a university preparatory school, WIC also offers a French Immersion stream.

WIC maintenance team manages 8 acres of property including 3 buildings, leased space, parking lot, turf field and greenhouse in SE Calgary. The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure the school building and grounds are clean, safe, and well-maintained. This role includes routine maintenance, minor repairs, and responding to ticketed maintenance requests.

Key Responsibilities
- Set up and take down furniture and equipment for school operations and events
- Perform routine inspections of school facilities to identify maintenance needs using daily/weekly/monthly checklists as a guide
- Troubleshoot minor repairs on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry systems.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of school grounds, including snow removal, lawn care, and trash disposal.
- Respond promptly to ticketed maintenance requests and all emergencies.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and school policies.
- Collaborate with custodial staff and external contractors as needed.

**Qualifications**

Technical:

- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace safety standards and procedures.
- Tool Proficiency: Skilled in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Basic Carpentry, Plumbing, and Electrical Knowledge: Ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance.

Communication:

- English literacy (oral and written)
- Team Collaboration: Work well with maintenance team, custodial staff, teachers, and administrators.

**Physical and Safety**:

- Physical Stamina: Capable of lifting 50lbs, and standing for long periods.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders; frequently work at height and on scaffolding
- Must be able to walk long distances on slippery, uneven surfaces continuously
- Must be able to do repetitive handwork continuously
- Consistent & continuous crouching, bending, and twisting
- Must be able to work in a variety of climates including extreme cold and warm weather

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
