Native Education College (NEC) opened its doors in 1967 and became British Columbia's largest private Indigenous College.
NEC’s purpose is to contribute to an Indigenous, holistic experience that positions the Indigenous learner to uphold their
responsibility and obligations to their family, and nation of origin as autonomous Peoples. NEC provides culturally relevant
education and training for Indigenous Peoples to pursue career aspirations and enhance academic goals in alignment with
their diverse cultural identities and traditional knowledge. The NEC longhouse offers access to many resources and in-house
support that includes cultural and spiritual support, funding, counselling, and career advising from a culturally authentic lens.

**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Program Coordinator of the IJS Program regarding student progress and course delivery. The instructor is
required to teach at least one course, including assessment, evaluation of students’ learning process, and assist with
curriculum development and planning including online Moodle development and other duties as assigned. NEC seeks casual
instructor(s) to teach 2 courses this fall semester, CRIM 145 Employment Preparation and Crim 170 Introduction to

**Qualifications**:
Any combination of education and work experience as follows will be considered.
- Degree in criminology, sociology, or a related field.
- Significant work experience in criminal justice or post-secondary education systems.
- Knowledge of and successful experience with Indigenous adult instructional methodology.
- Indigenous ancestry or extensive experience working with Aboriginal organizations.
- Verbal, written and computer communication skills.
- Curriculum development and lesson planning is a priority.
- Knowledge about assessment for learning and assessment of learning from an indigenous lens
- Experience navigating Moodle is a must.

**Terms**:
Appointment to this casual position will require a formal criminal record check, the details of which may preclude finalizing
an offer of employment. Preference will be given to qualified Indigenous applicants.

**Hours**: 4.5 hours per week/class,

**Salary**: $39.56/hr as per Collective Agreement
