**Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common type of dementia, making up approximately 70% of all cases. Those over the age of 65 are at a higher risk to develop AD and it diminishes cognitive, verbal, and physical abilities by destroying brain cells. This in turn affects our ability to think, to learn new things, and to remember. Many scientific experts are working to ameliorate our understanding of this devastating disease in the hope of finding more effective treatments.**
**We provide care to patients, generate knowledge for the scientific community, continue to improve support, and access clinical research.**
We are currently searching for a Finance Specialist who will work closely with the Director of Finance and Administration to support the growing clinics in the financial and payroll function, while supporting the mission, values, and vision of the organization.
**How would you be spending your day?**
- Conducts budget analysis and reviews budget details to accurately invoice for clinical procedures
- Negotiates increases in budgets and communicates with sponsors as required
- Assists with accounts payable activities, reviews and approves incoming invoices and ensures timely payments of vendor invoices and expenses
- Performs data analysis and advises management on profit-maximizing ideas
- Maintains accurate finance records and reports
- Oversees financial systems and processes in place and recommends changes whenever necessary
- Assists with creating and reviewing policies
- Manages, supports, and generates company payroll
- Answers employees enquires regarding payroll and finance
- Works cross functionally across the organization to obtain financial goals
- Trains new employees as required
- Performs work in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all company policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety
- Performs other related duties as assigned
**What are we looking for?**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Finance, Business or Accounting or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in Finance and Payroll.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in medical research and/or healthcare
- Finance or Payroll certification is an asset
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Bamboo, DEXT, QuickBooks, Plooto, Nethris and other software tools
- Fluent in both English and French; written and spoken is mandatory
This position will work from and support both clinics located in Ottawa and Gatineau.
