Analyst, Operational Accounting

We are looking for an **Analyst, Operational Accounting.**This role is aligned to our Winnipeg Head Office location.

**Role Description**

The Analyst will be primarily responsible for the monitoring and reconciling of life claims and payments to ensure accurate financial reporting by investigating and solving discrepancies in the claims payment process. The role will also require other tasks that include monthly disability claims reporting, engagement in special projects, improvement of accounting procedures and supporting other Operational Accounting responsibilities.

**What you will do**:

- Daily monitoring of life claims suspense accounts and life claims paid by Canada Life.
- Investigation and clearing of claims transactions by analyzing the data for accuracy and consistency.
- Identifying appropriate corrective action in cooperation with Workplace Solutions Life Claims team to rectify accounting transaction errors.
- Making improvements in life coding processes to ensure accuracy in the financial reporting of life claims.3
- Compile and analyze life claims data for quarterly Paid not Reported (PNR) report. Completion of quarterly reporting requires ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Develop and deliver concise documentation related to life claims processes and workflow.
- Assist management with special system initiatives
- Ad hoc reporting for management
- Support other Operational Accounting staff as required, including back up during peak workload periods and vacation coverage

**What you will bring**:

- Post-secondary education in accounting/business field, or equivalent (e.g. Community College certificate)
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills are required.
- Ability to work independently with guidance from leadership
- Proficient in MS Excel (able to write complex formulas). Basic knowledge of macros would be and asset.
- Strong communication skills both orally and written.
- Time Management; Ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of SAP and mainframe is definitely and asset.
- Reliability Status security clearance - this is a personnel security status that is required before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada website

The base salary for this position is between **$44,900****:

- $67,400** annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
