**Job Description**:
- SUMMARY:
- Lumentum is seeking a junior/intermediate Engineering Technician to join our world-class R&D team. This is an opportunity to acquire new skills and knowledge while contributing to the development of advanced optical communications products and the development of the processes used to fabricate and test such products. The Engineering Technician will work with electronics, mechanical and optics technology in a laboratory setting. JOB DUTIES & TASKS:
- Assemble product prototypes, production tooling and experimental apparatus.
- Prepare and conduct experiments. Report and interpret the experimental results.
- REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Engineering Technology
- demonstrated practical mechanical aptitude
- ability to read electrical schematic and mechanical engineering drawings
- skill and dexterity in the handling, manipulation and assembly of very small, delicate objects, sometimes requiring the use of a microscope
- strong written and oral communications skills in the English language
- working knowledge of mathematics applicable to data analysis
- self-motivated, energetic, positive, independent, learns quickly
- DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- experience in electronics assembly and test, precision hand soldering
- experience in micro-optics assembly and optical fiber splicing
- high level of interest in science and engineering
- demonstrated craftsmanship
