Hiring: Pastry Assistant

We are looking for a Pastry Assistant who will work directly with our Executive Pastry Chef, to oversee our bakery/pastry area of our kitchen. Our in-house bakery supplies daily muffins, cookies, and donuts for our two Duo Café locations as well as maintaining stock of our pizza dough for Tide & Boar Brewing.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Coordinate daily and weekly tasks with the Executive Pastry Chef.
- Prepare daily fresh muffins, cookies, and cake and sourdough donuts for both Duo Café locations; coordinate with Executive Pastry Chef ensuring a variety of styles and flavors.
- Prepare daily New York and Detroit style pizza dough for Tide & Boar Brewing.
- Prepare daily pastry ingredients and products for Tide & Boar Gastropub, McSweeney’s’ Dinner Theatre, and our Catering department.
- Ability to work under the pressure of a busy kitchen keeping inventory levels on par with business demands.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized work and prep areas thru out the kitchen.
- Ability to multi-task and work efficiently, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Knowledge of all standard procedures and policies pertaining to sanitation of the kitchen.
- Carry out other duties as required by management.

Position Requirements, Compensation and Benefits:

- This is a full-time position; 40 hours or more per week.
- Fixed Schedule: two-week training period will be Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 2:30pm transitioning to a fixed schedule of Wednesday through Sunday (off Monday and Tuesday) from 6:30am to 2:30pm or later depending on business levels. Applicants not able to have this schedule will not be considered.
- Experience: 2-3 years in a bakery or pastry department of a full-service kitchen.
- Compensation: $17.50-$19.50 per hour based on experience. Inclusion in tip pool.

Pay: $17.50-$19.50 per hour

Expected hours: 36 - 44 per week
