**Position Overview**

We are currently hiring **Child and Youth Care Practitioners (CYCP)** to support youth aged 16-24 in **justice system programs** and **day treatment settings**. This hands-on role involves providing structured supervision, behavior support, life skills education, and ensuring safe, respectful residential environments.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Engage youth involved in the justice system or participating in day treatment programming
- Support daily routines, life skills programming, recreation, and behavior management
- Provide direct supervision of residents and ensure a safe, structured environment
- Complete and maintain accurate documentation (daily logs, incident reports, medication charts)
- Assist with meal preparation, serving, and cleanup
- Support youth during appointments and community activities
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and Ministry standards
- Perform household chores and property checks; report and log any contraband
- Maintain a **hands-off approach**—no physical restraints allowed
- Ensure open communication with team and contribute to a collaborative work culture

**Qualifications (required)**:

- Diploma or Degree in **Child and Youth Care**, **Social Services Worker**, **Community Justice Services**, or a related program
- Minimum **1 year of experience** working with youth aged 16-24
- **Current Police Reference Check** or willingness to obtain a **Vulnerable Sector Check**:

- **COVID-19 vaccination (minimum 2 doses)** and **up-to-date immunizations**:

- **Standard First Aid & CPR Level C certification**:

- **CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)** and **UMAB** certification (required)
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Physically capable of engaging with youth in program activities

- Ability to work **morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts**:

- Knowledge of shelter standards and experience in shelter/residential settings
- Understanding of the **LGBTQ+ community** and inclusive care practices
- Reliable for **on-call and emergency shift coverage**, especially on weekends
- Respectful, compassionate, and culturally sensitive demeanor
- Strong public relations and team collaboration abilities
- Able to respond effectively to dynamic situations and changing workloads
