Family Support Coordinator Medicine Bear Counselling

As the Family Support Coordinator you work from your heart and are a highly compassionate, skilled and creative leader with a passion for supporting families of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, and ending violence. You use an anti-oppressive and human rights analysis to understand Indigenous women and girls experience with all forms of violence. You know from personal experience that reclaiming Indigenous cultural practices is a foundation for coping with complex grief and trauma and are committed to healing and wellness. You are committed to culturally safe practices, and decolonizing trauma informed care. You are a successful systems advocate and are able to assist families to access community resources and supports. You are able to see strength in all people and help people to see the strength in them themselves.
**About the Role**
The Family Support Coordinator is responsible for managing the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the project, including report writing, data collection, budget management, and managing a team of professionals. You will provide therapeutic, individual, family and group sessions, providing opportunities to heal from complex trauma and complicated grief within a culturally safe and supportive environment. The coordinator also identifies and engages Knowledges Keepers and ensuring families have access to a broad range of ceremonial practices and or western therapeutic modalities and supports.
**Qualifications**
- University Degree or Certificate in related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant post-secondary education, experience and training
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience working within the Indigenous community
- An understanding of the Indigenous economic, cultural and political environments
- Intimate knowledge of the issues of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls
- Experience in program coordination, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all program related objectives/deliverables
- Demonstrated short term and ongoing counselling skills
- Experience in facilitating sharing/healing circles and knowledge of traditional healing practices
- Effective crisis intervention skills
- Practice and possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication, both written and oral, and professional work behavior
