Cook/counter Assistant

We are seeking a motivated and reliable **Cook / Counter Help** to join our team at _Joy by the Beach_, a seasonal eatery operating out of a fully equipped container kitchen. Located near the lake in Wainfleet, ON, we serve espresso drinks, gelato, burgers, fries, and other easy summer bites. This role requires someone who can handle both the grill and the till with confidence and a great attitude during busy summer days.

This is an ideal position for someone who enjoys working in a small, friendly team, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and brings a blend of kitchen and customer service skills.

**Responsibilities**
- Prepare and cook menu items including burgers, fries, breakfast sandwiches, and other casual food offerings.
- Operate espresso equipment and assist with gelato service when needed.
- Use the Clover point-of-sale system to take orders, process payments, and manage customer interactions.
- Keep the kitchen and service area clean, organized, and stocked during and after shifts.
- Follow food safety protocols and hygiene standards at all times.
- Assist with opening, closing, and light prep work to keep things running smoothly.
- Maintain a friendly and professional attitude with guests, even during peak times.
- Communicate with team members to ensure orders are accurate and timely.

**Experience**
- Previous experience in a kitchen, food truck, café, or fast-casual environment is preferred.
- Experience using a POS system (especially Clover) is an asset.
- Comfortable working on a grill, fryer, and espresso machine (training provided if needed).
- Strong multitasking skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and available for weekend and holiday shifts.
- Able to work in a standing position and lift up to 30 lbs during a shift.
- Positive, team-first attitude and a willingness to help wherever needed.

**Job Type**: Seasonal
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 48 per week
