NATURE OF WORK
- The incumbent, under the authority of the Director of Facilities Management, will lead a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and technicians with various specialties and levels of experience. The incumbent will also coordinate, supervise, and evaluate - in concert with other departments and sectors - activities and resources regarding improvements to the building’s infrastructure and its equipment. This includes and is not limited to all the activities related to project prioritization, annual budget forecast, project management.
- RESPONSIBILITIES
- Financial- Prepares and manages operating and capital budgets in the related areas of responsibility;
Management- Evaluates the condition of the buildings and recommends the nature of the work, improvements, or upgrades to be done. Once approved, plans, and coordinates the work accordingly;
- Determines human, financial, and material resource needs and makes recommendations to the director;
- Responsible for ensuring that contract management, asset management and capitalized projects funds management are carried out in accordance with the various legislative, regulatory, and organizational procedures in force within the purview to the sector;
Management- Integrates sound customer service practices to enhance its overall quality;
- Manages the team under his or her supervision, based on their strengths; provides them the tools and opportunities to develop their skills and abilities;
- Participates in selection committees, informs newly hired personnel of their mandates, greets and assists in their integration into the work team, assigns tasks and carries out the performance evaluations.
- Manages priorities effectively to ensure timely completion of tasks and projects, while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency;
- Demonstrates managerial courage to make tough decisions when necessary, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Renovations and minor construction- Works closely with the manager responsible for the operation of the buildings and the team of specialized resources to carry out the projects;
- Defines the mandate of the architects and engineers; prepares or approves plans and specifications of calls for tender for work to be carried out by consultants or external companies; analyzes the bids received and makes appropriate recommendations to the director;
- Oversees and manages the performance of professional consultants and external firms hired by the department, ensuring adherence to project requirements, timelines, and quality standards.
- Researches, analyzes and recommends equipment specifications for major capital purchases;
- Identifies different methods and different processes, programs or products that enable effective management of energy and energy-saving projects;
- Collaborates with the Purchasing department during the tendering process;
- Using relevant resources, evaluates the feasibility of the requests from internal stakeholders and recommends to the director projects to be prioritized;
- Plans, screens, coordinates and verifies the work carried out by the employees under his or her supervision;
- Maintains up-to-date records of the College building plans and equipment.
