Reporting to the Program Chair, the TR Instructional Assistant will work alongside like-minded individuals dedicated to helping our learners acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies required for future practice in Therapeutic Recreation. You will join a collaborative academic community that thrives on energy, motivation, and dedication to the success of both our students and colleagues. **HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE** As a NorQuest instructional assistant, you facilitate student learning in a variety of methods including lecture, laboratory, and practicum learning. In the instructional assistant role, you will assess, monitor, evaluate, and provide feedback to the students in order to facilitate the successful completion of their diploma program. As an instructional assistant, you will support and collaborate with the TR team of instructors to ensure effective course delivery for the students. **General Responsibilities**: - Demonstrate effective human relations skills. - Demonstrate professional conduct. - Adhere to policies and procedures of the program and college. - Participate in professional development. - Contribute to the achievement of divisional and program unit goals. - Carry out other duties as assigned. **Instructional Assistant Responsibilities**: - Support in the preparation and delivery of instructional material for both theory and lab courses. - Support the student learning in both online and in-person classes. - Supervision of students in both lab and practicum settings. - Coordination and maintenance of the TR lab. - Assess, monitor, and evaluate student performance and progress. - Manage student progress and provide resources to enhance student learning. - Model professional behaviour at all times. - Maintain appropriate student records and reports. - Liaise with other instructional team members. **WHAT YOU BRING** - Diploma in Therapeutic Recreation. - Registration with the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) - Supporting or Professional Membership required. - Minimum of 2 years of experience in the RTA role. - Previous instructional experience in a post-secondary environment (or coursework in adult education) is preferred. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Experience teaching, mentoring, and/or developing curriculum. - Computer skills and online teaching experience preferred. - If your education was received internationally we recommend you obtain an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations. **WHAT MAKES YOU A DIFFERENCE MAKER?** - A Police Information Check within the last ninety days. - A Vulnerable Sectors Check within the last thirty days. - Up-to-date immunization records including COVID-19 vaccinations. - Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to teach individuals at different skill levels. - Ability to evaluate student performance through various academic methods. - Advanced skills in conflict resolution and problem-solving. - Ability to develop different classroom strategies to keep learners engaged. - Strong oral communication and writing skills. - Culturally sensitive and have an ability to work with a diverse population. - Passionate about Therapeutic Recreation. **SALARY**:$54,028-$70,193 reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience.
