Assistant Manager, Product and Trade Compliance

**Role Overview**

The Product & Trade Compliance function aims to prevent the Group and its Maisons from any legal, regulatory, and/or reputation risk that may jeopardize market access for goods due to a lack of regulatory considerations, lack of awareness/accountability, or enforcement.

The Assistant Manager, Product and Trade Compliance is responsible for overseeing compliance with customs laws, non-tariff barriers, consumer protection regulations, disposal rules, and other regulations affecting the distribution of products and/or the movement of goods. The PTCM will work closely with the Logistics functions, however, they are free from operational considerations within the supply chain in order to remain impartial and objective.

**Responsibilities**:

- Maintain knowledge and stay current with federal, provincial and municipal product and trade related regulations, providing compliance guidance and advice.
- Interpret product and trade related regulations, conduct in-depth assessments of their impacts on the business, and prepare guidance documents for relevant stakeholders.
- Assess business risks, taking into account GP&TC directives and local regulations, implement adequate controls, and monitor their effectiveness.
- Participate in the Regional Product and Trade Compliance Committee and advocate for Canadian PTC related topics.
- Ensure that Richemont Canada, Inc. is compliant with all licensing, notification and record keeping requirements related to product and trade regulations. Work with relevant stakeholders to ensure Richemont maintains its Partner in Protection (PIP) designation.

REGULATORY MONITORING
- **Monitor**: Based on regulatory intelligence and guidance provided/updated by Group Product & Trade Compliance (“GP&TC”), the PTCM must keep abreast with new and/or changing regulations and routinely monitor emerging trends in Canada.
- **Analyze**: The PTCM must analyze product and trade regulation, assess their applicability to our business, understand underlying risks, and prioritize a response based on competing priorities.
- **Communicate**: Follow GP&TC methodology to communicate regulatory intelligence findings.
- **Network**: the PTCM builds and maintains a strong network comprised of government authorities, brokers, professional associations, and other industry professionals in order to benefit from regulatory intelligence, best-practice sharing and the ability to influence future regulations.

IMPLEMENTATION & EXECUTION
- **Advise**: Interpret, prepare guidance documents, and advise on Canadian product and trade regulations. Keep abreast with changing regulations to ensure guidance documents are kept up-to-date within the GP&TC library.
- **Train**: Participate in routine training activities to educate relevant stakeholders and raise awareness of PTC policies.

ENABLE
- **Assess**: Follow GP&TC guidelines to conduct risk assessments on GP&TC directives and local regulations, and escalate risks as needed.
- **Monitoring & Control**: Develop and implement adequate controls, monitor their effectiveness, and report on their success according to GP&TC guidelines and/or Canadian requirements

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business, Law, or other related field
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in luxury or retail industry
- Certified Customs Specialist, Certified Trade Compliance Specialist, or other PTC-related certification an asset
- Comprehensive knowledge of product regulation or/and customs regulations, other government agency requirements, and understanding of international trade
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; proficiency in French an asset
- Ability to quickly understand complex legal and regulatory concepts, and explain them in a manner that is easy for stakeholders to understand
