- Plastics: With new technology trends, our plastic additives can be experienced in many everyday items including vinyl, blow-molding bottles, film, rigid containers, PVC plastics, siding, decks and rails, foam pipes and profile formulations, window frames and high-efficiency lubricants.
- Industrial intermediates: As the product of a reaction that is beneficial when used as a precursor chemical for another product, industrial intermediates can take on many shapes and forms. Ours are used in home comfort and appliance, building and construction, adhesives and lubricants, and more.
- Coatings: Whether it’s a water-based coating or solvent-based coating, a thin film is deposited on materials to enhance specific properties such as enhanced performance, durability, aesthetics, and sustainability.

Dow Canada has exciting job opportunities for Energy Operators in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
Facilities include Cogeneration (gas and steam turbines, HRSG, demineralization, cooling towers, chemical addition and water treatment).
About You:
You can operate assigned equipment or areas of the Plant. Performs and reports on operational related activities per the Operations Dashboard (OPD)-Tasks List. Utilizes discretionary time to enable sustainable performance results for the facility. You can utilize operations knowledge and experience, to proactively operate the plant in a safe, reliable and optimal manner. Works with Shift Team members to efficiently anticipate and resolve unplanned events within the capabilities of the shift team and effectively escalates issues that cannot be resolved to the appropriate support roles. May provide training to less experienced operators. Requires established basic technical skills to perform a range of routine work activities using existing processes and methods. Note: Operator Progression is managed at the site level.
Also, you can complete each of the following tasks:
- Operates and field checks process equipment. Monitors process conditions, key performance metrics, equipment, and control systems and makes appropriate decisions to maintain and/or achieve desired rates and conditions aligned with Plant/Site/Business goals. Typical activities aligned with this responsibility are:
- Completes operation rounds as per Operator Round Policy.
- Makes process equipment changes within normal operating parameters to match plant performance goals.
- Submits clear, concise, value added work requests aligned with required criteria to convey known symptoms / causes to expert partners.
- Uses troubleshooting skills, knowledge and resources (guides/procedures, Cause & Effect methodologies, etc.) to resolve process related deviations and problems.
- Applies principals of a Highly Reliable Organization: Identify Trends &
- Escalates issues appropriately based on impact to achieving goals.
- Start equipment preps early in the shift (when possible) so any complications can be dealt with.
- Prepares equipment for turnover to maintenance according to
- Environment Health & Safety (EH&S) standards and facility operating discipline.
- Permit maintenance following Dow’s Global Standards.
- Returns equipment to service, as indicated by facility goals, utilizing EH&S standards and facility operating discipline.
- Follows Operating Discipline policies, principles, procedures, standards and practices to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of assigned plant areas. Ensures adequate operating discipline is available for all activities (planned and unplanned).
- Performs scheduled operational & related tasks and tasks that arise as a result of resolving unplanned events.
- Works with Shift Team members and other Shift Teams to leverage skills and knowledge to balance workload ensuring assigned tasks are completed by due dates.
- Initiates & documents preliminary investigations according to plant specific process/criteria and participates in formal and informal Root Cause Investigations
- Conducts effective shift relief as defined in the Shift Relief Policy to ensure effective communication and handoff to arriving shift team to enable the facility's improved and sustainable performance.
- Maintains qualification in assigned areas per policy and completing training goals in a timely manner. This includes using discretionary time to address skills and knowledge gaps.
