If this sounds like you, please keep reading We’re looking for a **Payroll Specialist I** to join our Payroll Team. **In this role, you will**: - Support the delivery of established Payroll programs by providing advice & technical support to the People Support Centre and responding/escalating complex inquiries where possible enabling an efficient and seamless service experience. - Coordinate and conduct payroll related activities to enable the achievement of program objectives. - Analyze, reconcile, and resolve discrepancies in payroll transactions so that records are accurate and complete. **You Are**: - **An Investigator & Problem Solver**: - You have a natural curiosity and analytical eye to review information, detect anomalies, and investigate and resolve discrepancies. Able to solve problems and make decisions based on a specific set of standards and guidelines, escalating unresolved issues to senior staff as required. - **Deadline-driven & calm under pressure**: - Able to handle high volumes, can manage workflows to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely manner. - **Strong Communicator** - You have great communication and interpersonal skills, both verbally and written. This makes you a resource for your specialized area, providing specialized advice, guidance, explanations, and related support; you also might have helped develop program content. - **Able to use discretion**: - **A quick learner** - Open-minded and able to learn Vancity strategies, functions and programs, policies, procedures, systems and software. - **A team player** You are reliable, dedicated and synergistically work with others to support the team. **You Have**: - **Specialized Education **- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) required. - **Experience**: - Minimum 3 years in Full Cycle payroll including exposure to Time and Attendance systems. Knowledgeable about Payroll and Accounting concepts, practices and techniques. **Bonus if you also have**: - A post-secondary diploma, or undergraduate degree in Business Administration - Experience in Finance or Accounting - Experience working with Collective Agreements. **The Team**: - The Payroll Specialist reports directly into the Manager, Payroll, located at our head office in Vancouver, - Salary Band: $49,700-$74,500* **We offer**: - We are the largest private-sector Living Wage Employer in Canada and have been consistently recognized as one of the Top Employers in Canada - Our permanent employees qualify for attractive benefit packages that can be customized and changed each year to meet their evolving needs - We understand that retirement means different things to different people and at Vancity we offer retirement programs to meet diverse needs - New employees receive between three and four weeks of vacation allowance per calendar year, and the number of vacation days grows — to a maximum of six weeks per year — as their length of service increases.
