Compensation Range

$5,365.42 - $7,709.92 CAD Monthly

In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

Job Summary

The primary focus of the Research Coordinator is to coordinate the multi-centre studies sponsored by the industry or grants in the Division of Pediatric Neurology. Exceptional organizational skills, as well as a high degree of motivation, enthusiasm, and initiative will enable the Research coordinator to focus the direction of activities within the Pediatric Neurology research program.

This position involves the planning, coordination, implementation, evaluation, communication and/or management of research studies.

The research coordinator will be allocated work space within the Division of Pediatric Neurology.

Organizational Status
Reports to the Neurosciences Program Research Director and the PIs. Works with the pediatric neurologists, research director, nurses, research assistants and other study coordinators, statistical and computer consultants, and clerical staff.

Work Performed

Clinical Trial Coordination- Plan, organize, and coordinate multiple clinical trials, including study setup, maintenance, and closeout.- Review study protocols to identify potential challenges and implement solutions in collaboration with the project team.- Develop study tools, including case report forms, recruitment materials, and protocol administration resources.- Ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.- Maintain regulatory documentation, oversee study material organization, and liaise with industry monitors.- Tracks study progress, identifies deviations from timelines, and provides recommendations for adjustments.

Participant Recruitment & Study Implementation- Develop and implement recruitment strategies, including advertising and outreach efforts.- Screen and enroll participants, obtain informed consent, and coordinate study visits.- Works with hospital pharmacy for medication dispensing and ensures proper storage and shipment of study specimens.- Provide participants with study-related education and counseling as needed.

Research Administration & Data Management- Design study-specific databases and oversee data collection, entry, and transfer.- Conduct literature reviews and synthesize findings to support research objectives.- Conduct analysis of preliminary data and prepare study reports for investigators and sponsors.-
- Participate in research meetings to discuss study progress and next steps.

Consequence of Error/Judgement
The Research coordinator is required to conduct all research activities in an ethical manner, suited to proper activities of the University of BC and to the professional organizations governing his or herself and those governing the activities of the Directors and all other investigators. Any procedures or data recorded as part of a trial must be accurate and must accurately reflect the work performed. Strict confidentiality of all study participants must be adhered to. All activities involving participants are accountable to the Principle Investigator, the Division Head, and the Research coordinator's governing professional organization.

Supervision Received
Most of the work will be done independently; however, the Principle Investigator(s) and the Research Director supervise all projects.

The research coordinator will be responsible for the supervision of junior research staff and students participating in the student work program
