**JOB PURPOSE**

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for supervising operations and maintenance of building, facility, plant, amenities, utilities (HVAC, Compressed Air, Ammonia, Boiler systems) to provide a safe and reliable operation that meets internal & regulatory requirements.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Lead by example to foster a culture of zero accidents or incidents, ensuring safety is a non-negotiable priority across all operations.
- Supervise and coordinate the operation, inspection, and maintenance of heating, refrigeration, and utility systems, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with technical and safety codes.
- Develop and manage work schedules and inspection routines for refrigeration operators, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and plant safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with legislative safety requirements, delivering clear instruction and enforcing plant safety rules to protect employee health and wellbeing.
- Facilitate and support training programmes that enhance technical knowledge and safety awareness, aligned with departmental development plans.
- Manage and direct facility maintenance upgrades and repairs, overseeing both operational and capital expenditures while maintaining budgetary discipline.
- Collaborate with site leadership to shape and execute long-term strategic plans for infrastructure and operational improvements.
- Drive cost and waste reduction initiatives that enhance efficiency without compromising operational integrity or product quality.
- Maintain a deep understanding of waste and utility systems supporting the site’s manufacturing processes, identifying opportunities for optimisation.
- Promote positive union-management relations through proactive problem-solving and correct administration of the Collective Agreement.
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- Refrigeration A license. License to operate boilers.
- Diploma or B.S. degree in a manufacturing, scientific or engineering related discipline, Chemical or Process engineering is strongly preferred.
- Strong technical background with basic understanding of process controls & automation
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in food manufacturing.
- Thorough knowledge of Facilities Maintenance/Management and how to proactively maintain the overall health of the building and equipment is preferred
- Passionate about delivering consistent excellence.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to exercise sound judgment, tact and discretion when dealing with others both internally and externally (Contractors, Auditors, Customers).
- Strong analytical abilities coupled with effective problem solving and decision-making skills
- Effective organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and competing priorities within short time lines.
