Experienced Line Cook

1. Preparing and plating dishes to order
2. Cooking soups, sauces and toppings from scratch - learning and sharing with one another
3. Measuring, portioning and plating
4. Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
5. Ability to work both independently and as a team.
6. Knowledge of all Food Safety Handling requirements and relevant legislation (Alberta Gaming and Liquor, others).
7. Required uniform worn at all times; and hair covered and away from face;
8. Interested in working in an environment with older adults;
9. Patient and tactful when dealing with residents, family members, volunteers, visitors, physicians, staff from other departments and the general public;
10. Willingness to perform a variety of repetitive tasks;
11. Willingness to accept training for procedures specific to this department;
12. Willingness to accept supervision and direction from supervisor and to work as a member of a team;
13. Ability to get along with co-workers, demonstrate integrity and express a sense of humor;
14. Must demonstrate and practice proper safety and lifting techniques.
15. Experience in institutional quantity cooking and knowledge of therapeutic diets and their preparation is very helpful.
16. Ability to organize time and food preparation to specified times;
17. Maintain and promote the highest food quality and production standards;
18. Ability to make appropriate substitutions to the menu, when necessary, and report those substitutions to the Executive Chef.
19. Assist with special catering as required.
20. Model the Touchmark values in decision-making and in interactions with team members, residents, and guests.
21. Know the Touchmark Gold Standard for your area of responsibility and adhere to it.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance and punctuality;
2. Ability to lead, manage, model, and make decisions in accordance with the Touchmark Values;
3. Ability to give and follow oral and written instructions;
4. Ability to complete required paperwork and filing with high degree of accuracy;
5. Ability to observe resident’s behavior and communicate observations in a professional and intelligent manner;
6. Ability to operate standard kitchen and business equipment;
7. Some weekend and evening work may be required.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
1. Attend Stand-Up Meetings and Culinary Planning Meetings;
2. Hold self and others accountable for meeting the Touchmark Gold Standards;
3. Check kitchen for sanitation and regulatory standards;
4. Ensure production numbers are being filled out regularly on the templates from provided to you by your Executive Chef
5. Follow all printed recipes, production sheets, and prep/pull sheets provided to you daily by your Executive Chef
6. Ensure temperature logs are filled out and food is being cooked and served at appropriate temperatures;
7. Respond quickly and effectively to customer needs and complaints;
**PERFORMANCE STANDARDS**:
1. Nutritional and tastefully prepared food at all times;
2. Kitchen staff, equipment and materials must be professional looking and well organized at all times;
Must communicate with all staff in a dignified and professional manner.
