We are currently seeking an experienced, reliable, and motivated Fabrication Manager to add to our team
**Job Summary**:
The Fabrication Manager’s primary function is to supervise, coordinate, and schedule activities of Fitters, Welders, Cutters, and Material Handlers in the fabrication of metal products or structures based on technical drawings and schematics, welding process specifications, and other documentation in a manufacturing environment.
**Responsibilities**:
1. Supervise, coordinate, and schedule activities of Fitters, Welders, Cutters, and Material Handlers in the fabrication of metal parts and products.
2. Continuous training
- work with team leaders to ensure schedules are being followed. Schedule daily meetings with team leaders and employees. Communicate all relevant information.
3. Establish methods to meet work schedules, including staffing requirements, and coordinate with other departments, including preparation of production and other established reports.
4. Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and welding process specifications.
5. Recommend and implement measures regularly to resolve work problems, and improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
6. Create a production schedule and inspection book.
7. Estimate project staffing and time management as well as track production to optimize profit.
8. Organize the shop floor and workspace to optimize production capacity and a safe work environment.
9. Recommend and participate in personnel actions such as interviews, training, hiring, promotions, performance reviews, and termination of workers.
10. Provide Engineering Department feedback on design improvements in the form of a written Engineering Change Request.
11. Ensure equipment, including cranes, welding machines, cutters, and other tools, are maintained and repaired in safe working condition.
12. Enforce quality of work within the department and improve the culture of self-inspection.
13. Communicate daily with all departments. Ensure all proper information/requests are handled in a timely manner,
14. Monitor inventory levels of consumables, stock material, and trigger orders.
15. Safety Champion - lead by example to ensure all team members are following the company H&S policies and procedures. Ensure standards for safe working conditions are observed following the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Conduct and document regular safety talks with staff.
**Job Specific Qualifications**:
1. A minimum of 8 years of equivalent work experience in a large/heavy custom steel fabrication environment with at least 2 years in a supervisory position.
2. Graduate of a credited Welder Fitter program and/or completion of college or vocational/technical training.
3. Valid and current CWB Welding Tickets are mandatory.
4. Previous experience working within an ISO9001 environment is preferred.
5. Supervisory and Management Trained in Production
6. Safety Trained
