**Job Description**:
**POSITION PURPOSE**:
Reporting to the Commander/Program Manager, Fleet and Facilities is responsible for providing technical support to the Branch to ensure that service contractors are maintaining Ambulances, Emergency Response Vehicles and related equipment in accordance with contract specifications, legislation, and quality standards on the emergency response vehicles, including mechanical inspections and assessment of assigned vehicles, and auditing of service contractor mechanical work, documentation and legislated certifications.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Performs quality assurance checks for compliance on mechanical and body repairs conducted by service contractors on Paramedic Services vehicles to ensure adequacy of parts and maintenance practices and compliance to safety regulations.
- Ensures service contractor maintains appropriate documentation of work being performed.
- Reviews and audits service contractor maintenance records and invoices to ensure preventative and corrective maintenance work is being performed on Region owned vehicles and equipment, in accordance with industry standards.
- Inspects and assesses the condition of equipment and vehicles and assists in the preparation of tender and Request For Proposal documents.
- Conducts mechanical analysis of Paramedic Services fleet vehicles and reports and recommends vehicles that need to be retired or require structural refurbishing in keeping with the approved business plan and budget.
- Monitors and inspects Vendor, OEM and Region generated fleet programs and modification initiatives.
- Develops preventative maintenance schedules, procedures and inspection check sheets for legislated and seasonal inspections based on vehicle fleet types.
- Receives and analyzes various reports on a daily, monthly, and annual basis and calculates compliance to performance-based contract measures related to fleet items.
- Participates in the research, testing and evaluation of new vehicle products and technologies including emission reduction devices, alternative fuels, driver monitoring systems, etc..
- Responds to major collisions involving Paramedic Services vehicles, assessing the mechanical fitness and subsequently reviewing maintenance documentation of involved fleet vehicles.
- Attends and completes assigned Regional, vendor and OEM training courses and sessions.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Successful completion of a two-year Community College Diploma in a technical discipline or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five (5) years experience in the repair and maintenance of light and medium duty diesel and gasoline vehicles.
- Ability to obtain a valid Ontario Class “CZ” or higher class driver’s license within six (6) months of appointment.
- Must have a valid Ontario Class 301S (Automotive Service Technician) licence or equivalent.
- Must hold Certificate of Qualifications and valid membership in the Ontario College of Trades and Apprentices.
- Knowledge of applicable legislated requirements to operate and maintain a fleet of ambulances, emergency response vehicles, administration, support and specialized response vehicles and the infrastructure of maintenance sites including Provincial Vehicle Safety Certification, Ontario Ambulance and Emergency Vehicle Certification Standards and Requirements, Highway Traffic Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Commercial Vehicle Operation Registry.
