**Position Title: Assay Lab Technician (I, II, III, & IV) - Contract**
Skeena Resources is hiring Assay Lab Technicians to fill positions available in: Sample Preparation, Fire Assay, and Wet Chemistry. Reporting to Skeena’s Superintendent, Assay Laboratory or designate, the Assay Lab Technicians are responsible for all activities pertaining to the function of their designated area of the lab including sample preparation, assaying, instrumentation, and data submission.
This position is seasonal in nature and the duration of the employment term is expected to be 5-6 months, depending on workload and construction season.
**Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to)**:
- Comply with the requirements of the health and safety guidelines, policies, and rules for the Eskay Creek site and laboratory.
- Adherence to lab Standard Operating Procedures and permit regulatory requirements.
- Complete understanding of the use of standard reference materials and how they are integrated and used to ensure quality analysis.
- Perform daily routine sample processing in accordance with the established testing procedures.
- Perform regular instrumentation maintenance and competent operation of lab equipment.
- Maintain accurate lab records as pertains to sample preparation and analysis, and equipment operation and maintenance.
- Actively seek opportunities to recognize health and safety hazards, resolve safety issues, and work to mitigate associated risks in the workplace.
- Work collaboratively and proactively with the exploration and operation teams on testing priorities and deliverables.
- Any other duties reasonably assigned to you by the Employer.
**Academic/Education Requirements**:
- Degree in Chemistry, Mining Technology, Technical Diploma and/or High school Diploma with 3 years in a mining laboratory or a commercial lab that analyzes exploration samples.
- Co-op students enrolled in a chemistry based technical diploma program or BCIT Assayer Certificate program are eligible for Assay Lab Technician I positions.
**Required Skills/Experience**:
- A Minimum of 3-5 years of directly related experience is required.
- Experience with Fire Assay & Wet Chemistry, ICP-OES, LECO or Eltra C/S.
- Experience with classical titration and gravimetric methods.
- Assay Net LIMS or other LIMS programs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Understanding of WHIMS, SDS maintenance of documents.
- Demonstrated experience in safety conscious culture, as well as awareness of, and adherence to, all required health and safety best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment or individually.
- Familiarity with relevant BC and federal legislation and regulations (e.g., WorkSafe BC guidelines, Mines Act, Occupational Health and Safety Legislation) is desired.
- Practical experience and knowledge with industry acceptable sample preparation and analysis procedures.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organization skills, managing, tracking, and recording multiple tasks and a heavy workload.
- Must be able to work a rotational schedule in a remote mining camp.
**Working Location and Conditions**:
This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation with combination to work from home during the off-season months Additionally, the job is in a fast-paced working environment, with having to manage multiple competing priorities.
There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
