The key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

- Lead execution of all open pit operations to achieve production targets in a safe, environmentally sound, and cost-effective manner, in accordance with good mining practice.
- Actively participate in the operational planning process.
- Implement and maintain the current mining plan including mining, drill and blast, and haulage.
- Maintain compliance with corporate, government and site-specific policies, procedures, and regulations
- Develop and implement changes necessary to improve productivity and lower production costs
- Work closely with safety and environmental departments to ensure that training requirements are met
- Ensure that safety incidents are investigated, notification procedures and protocols are followed, and recommendations implemented. Take corrective action where necessary to address non-compliance
- Develop and manage direct reports and ensure they understand their work and their roles
- Provide direction and encouragement for all mining operations employees to develop to their maximum potential and contribute to the overall success of the projects

**Qualifications**
- Tertiary qualification in mine engineering desirable but not required.
- 10+ years of mining experience with 5+ years supervisory/leadership experience in a large open pit mining environment. Experience working in a new mine construction environment highly desirable.
- Must have a strong understanding of mining techniques, equipment, materials, and procedures.
- Knowledge of drilling and blasting activities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to optimize workload and respond to top priorities with a sense of urgency
- Must be able to lead employees toward achieving individual, team, and company goals while building a strong team culture
- Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
- Strong attitude towards safety is an essential requirement
- Must be field oriented and able to work in mining environments
- Valid G Class Driver’s License (required) with clean abstract
- Willing and able to undergo pre-employment testing as a condition of employment
