The Community Education Outreach Worker interacts directly with youth, their families and schools to support the educational needs of students who may struggle with absenteeism. This individual will play a significant role in helping students in the North End reduce absenteeism, complete their K-12 education and support the future planning of post-secondary education and/or employment. This position reports to the Director of Engage Education.

Full-time; salaried; benefits available after three-month probation.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Mentor and support youth and their families who are struggling with absenteeism and strengthen their ability to consistently attend school.
- Liaise with schools and other community agencies to provide support and individualized learning plans to students
- Deliver established program curriculum and modules
- Guide youth through the progressive stages of the programming
- Collaborate and partner with organizations in the North End that may benefit youth and their families; connect participants to relevant resources
- Conduct research and collect data related to Absenteeism as directed.
- Enter and keep record of accurate data using the internal database
- Transport students in programming to and/or from school

**Qualifications**
- Experience working with students in an educational setting
- Experience working with high needs and/or at-risk youth
- Ability to build positive relationships with youth and their families
- Experience working as part of a collaborative team
- Experience planning and implementing activities and programming
- Experience in inner city settings an asset (but not mandatory)
- Required: Class 5 Driver’s license; willing to attain Class 4 Driver’s License

- To maintain a vibrant spiritual life and to seek to grow in his/her personal relationship with Jesus Christ through reading scripture, praying, and personal discipleship
- To allow time for spiritual disciplines in his/her life. Quarterly retreats are encouraged for the purpose of prayer, fasting, and quiet reflection. A personal mentor or accountability group is recommended to support him/her in their ministry
- To seek out training opportunities that will better equip him/her for ministry

**Accountability**
- Regular meetings with the Director of Engage Education for purpose of evaluation, supervision and care.
- The Engage Education team works together to achieve program goals and milestones focused on reducing absenteeism and ensuring students are able to complete their K-12 education.
- Attend Team meetings as scheduled by the Director of Engage Education. Attend all ICYA Staff meetings.
