Sealift Coordinator

You will work closely with our internal business partners in the North as well as the purchasing and logistics teams to source, procure materials and assist in coordinating transport of certain products.
Specifically, the incumbent will directly assist with the planning and coordination of sealift services which typically takes place between June and October each year. Sealift serves as a vital link in supplying EPLS operational needs for locations across Nunavut
**Duties & Responsibilities**:
- Work closely with the stores and purchasers to determine product quantities and purchasing timelines for sealift
- Directly assist with the purchasing of lumber and related products
- Assist with arranging transport of sealift goods to port including coordinating with vendors, transport providers and shipping companies
- Monitor delivery timelines to ensure goods arrive on time for the designated sailing dates
- Coordinate with shipping companies and store managers on the progress of freight and preparations for arrival in the community
- Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine reasonable pricing
- Research and evaluate merchandise/supplies based on quality, price, selection, support services available, supplier’s reliability, production & distribution capabilities
- Actively assist with the planning and & execution of cost reduction opportunities that allow for purchasing the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in the correct quantities
- Confer with suppliers to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action to be implemented
- Work to continually improve processes
- Maintain accurate and organized vendor files
- Build and develop relationships with key suppliers, customers, vendors and store staff
- Support the development and implementing of purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures
- Data Processing of our orders/shipments in our many systems to ensure timely and accurate information is uploaded into our ERP/POS systems
**Qualifications**:
- Post-Secondary education in purchasing, supply chain or another related field
- Experience in procurement and familiarity with building supplies is an asset
- Experience in logistics and specifically in ocean freight of large shipments is an asset
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service orientation
- Good problem-solving ability
- Able to work as part of a team as well as independently
- Good time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task while dealing with strict deadlines and short timeframes for execution of tasks
- Must have a strong work ethic, be reliable with a positive team attitude
- Good knowledge of the Retail Industry as well as the challenges of operating in Northern Canada is an asset.
Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
