All applicants must provide confirmation of full-time student status in current academic year and/or acceptance into full time studies the following September 2026.** **Basic Function**: - Reporting to the on-site Senior Leader, the Playleader will assist the on-site Camp Coordinator and full-time staff in the operation and delivery of camp programs. **Responsibilities**: - Prepare and deliver a theme-oriented children’s recreational program to meet the needs of all participants registered in the program. - Support the objectives and philosophies of the program as established by the Recreation and Culture department. - Adhere to department prescribed policies and procedures. - Support and promote the HIGH FIVE "Principles of Healthy Child Development" (PHCD). - Follow and implement all health and safety regulations and public health guidelines. **Specific Duties**: - Attend all mandatory staff functions from May-September 2026 including but not limited to, training, scheduled shifts, staff meetings, site clean-ups and all allocated program times. - Arrive at the program site in time to properly prepare for the day's program and start the program according to schedule. - Ensure the continuing safety of all participants while at the program with the assistance of the on-site Senior Leader, advise and document all accidents/incidents immediately. - Create an environment that fosters a positive and inclusive program experience. - Act as a positive role model for program participants and other team members. - Report and document all health and safety related incidents as per guidelines and report to Senior Leader and/or full-time staff immediately. - Ensure the daily activities are safe, creative, age-appropriate and inclusive of all program participants. - React to emergency situations and behaviour management issues in accordance to department approved procedures. - Maintain accurate records (ie: attendance and medical) for all participants registered in the program. - Notify the Senior Leader and/or Camp Coordinator of any problems and/or recommendations regarding participants, parents/guardians, co-workers or facilities which may affect the quality of the summer operations. - Plan, lead and participate in program-specific special events. - Participate in a daily meeting with the on-site Senior Leader and program staff. - Other duties that may be assigned by the Senior Leader, Camp Coordinator and /or full-time staff. **Positions Available and Specific Qualifications**: - General Day Camp Programs - Demonstrate genuine interest in working with children of all ages (preschool-school age) - Knowledge, training and implementation of behaviour management and childhood development is an asset - The Town may be running specialized camps (i.e. Arts & Culture, Performing Arts, Science & Technology, Sports and Hockey/Skating). Any experience in one of these areas would be an asset. **Qualifications / Skills**: - Current (within 3 years of the date of issue) Standard First Aid with CPR C Certificate from a WSIB approved agency valid until at least September 5, 2026. - Must be a minimum of 15 years of age or older by May 19, 2026. - HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) Certification (see below for more information). - Produce a satisfactory Criminal Reference Check (CRC) including vulnerable sector screening, dated within 30 days of hire. - All applicants must provide confirmation of full-time student status in current academic year and/or acceptance into full time studies the following September. - Employment or volunteer experience with children ages 4-12 (i.e.: school monitor, reading buddy, assistant instructor etc.) is considered an asset. - Camp specific experience is considered an asset. Strong problem solving and effective program planning skills. - Previous work experience with children with disabilities, experience with one-on-one support (feeding, changing, toileting, etc.) and behavior management is considered an asset. - Ability to work independently and in a team environment. **HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD Certification) Information**: WSIB Ontario has an approved list of first aid providers HERE.
