Functional Manager

In accordance with the assigned team, to manage and develop the engineering resources to ensure that the business has the adequate skills and manpower to deliver its strategic objectives while implementing best practice.

To support the Head of Configuration and Data Management in the delivery of configuration management in accordance with EIA649C and other international Configuration Management Standards, becoming the Subject Matter Expert on Configuration management for the Dartmouth Branch of Ultra - Sonar Systems.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for first line supervision of the Configuration team, including effectively leading, coaching, and developing existing staff-
- Liaising with Engineering Managers, Capability Managers and other stakeholders-
- Provide local technical direction and configuration management strategy as defined by the Head of Configuration and Data Management-
- To identify and help resolve Corrective Actions, including Non-Conformances-
- To demonstrate managing configuration management over multiple programs of various sizes-
- To actively participate in improvement activities for software tools used by the business like; PDM, PLM and ERP-
- Chairing and managing Regular Configuration Change Boards, Configuration Implementation Boards and other CM related meetings-
- Disseminate project and business information to Team Members in Canada-
- Actively participate in the continuous improvement of configuration management as well as collaboratively working with other departments to improve processes for other business areas-
- To Create and Maintain a good relationship with the Product Assurance and Design Assurance Teams-
- Drive Quality into all areas owned by the CM department, as defined by the company Business Management System (BMS)-
- Support the Head of Configuration and Data Management in the education of all business areas on the ‘Value of CM’-
- The company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position in line with the business needsRequired Skills, Qualification and Experience- 3 plus years experience of Line Management duties for staff including personal development, training and education with a CM Team of 5 plus membersDemonstratable experience of All Configuration Management lifecycle-
- Collaboration with internal stakeholders - Product Managers- Strong product life cycle management experience resolving corrective actions and handling non-conformance issues- Knowledge of configuration control related standards and change and configuration management fundamentals and principles.Knowledge of Windchill / PDM systems and/or IFS/ERP/MRP systems advantageous.-
- Knowledge of Budgets and Resource Allocation-
- Ability to obtain and maintain Controlled Goods Program and appropriate security clearance with the Public Services and Procurement Canada's Contract Security Program, including NATO Clearance- Desired Skills:
- Background in the defense industry preferred-
- CM2 Certified (IPX)-
- Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines-
