We currently have an opportunity for a **Shipping & Receiving Lead Hand to join our team at our Crossfield, Alberta facility**.

The Shipping & Receiving Lead Hand is responsible to lead a team who will organize safe transportation of product produced by Barkman Concrete. Shipping team members research the availability of product to fill orders and book carriers and forklift staff to load the product in a timely manner. The Shipping & Receiving Lead Hand ensures the team adheres to SOP’s, HR/Safety programs and professional conduct with both external and internal customers. The position is based out of the shipping office and is primarily a desk/office position that relies heavily on leadership abilities, computer skills, organization, and strong interpersonal skills.

- **Capacity**:_You will understand the importance of time management and work ethic towards getting tasks completed to meet maintenance requirements with high-quality standards.

**Responsibilities and qualifications for this role include**:

- Provide guidance, support, coaching and mentoring to the Shipping team members.
- Participate in daily meetings with team members to discuss scheduling, potential issues with loads or delivery locations, remind and address safety issues and to raise any questions or issues that may arise.
- Oversee the organization of safe transportation of product produced by Barkman Concrete.
- Complete required forms or paperwork related to the various shipments regarding delivery, shipping or other tasks associated with shipping i.e.: customs paperwork or LTL shipments.
- Work closely with other Shipping Consultants to make the best use of machinery available and to move product between Barkman sites effortlessly.
- Review, monitor and update departmental SOPs to provide new hires for training purposes.
- Engage with the team promoting best practices in training techniques, safety culture and continuous improvement.
- Perform required HR/Safety related supervisory functions including hiring, reviews, documentation, performance management, abiding by company policies and safety procedures, etc. as required.
- Participate in any incident investigations related to the department and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Problem-solve when unforeseen issues come up.
- Ability to multitask, be well organized and possess good time management skills is essential.
- Positive attitude, be self-motivated with an interest in continual learning/training.

**Conditions of Employment**
- Must hold a current driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving abstract/record.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
