Maintenance Service Worker Ii

Reporting to the Technician Supervisor, this position provides support to the programs within the School of Manufacturing and Automation. This position is responsible for general maintenance and repair of shop related equipment. This work will also include ensuring the work areas are in clean, workable, safe conditions, and sufficiently stocked with consumable products. The purpose of the work is to support instructional staff, program support staff such as stock keepers, mechanics, Educational Laboratory Techs, and other Maintenance Service Workers within the department.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Duties will include but are not limited to material handling and distribution, stocking inventory.
- Maintaining security of shop/lab and supplies.
- Operating and monitoring numerous types of mechanical equipment used in the preparation of materials for shops and labs such as: Hoists, pallet jack, overhead crane, winches and forklift operation.
- Bringing in, setting up and removing various teaching aides for the different programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Skills & Abilities**:
- Have good working knowledge of hand tools.
- Have strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to climb stairs, perform heavy physical work; able to lift 50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 90 lbs and heavier weights with the use of proper equipment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to be innovative when solving problems.
- Ability to travel between multiple campuses as required.
**Qualifications**:
- Completion of Grade twelve.
- Willingness to learn trades is a strong asset.
- A valid class 5 driver’s license.
- Experience operating a forklift is an asset.
- Equivalencies may be considered.
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).
**Remuneration**: $48,257.04 - $60,364.46 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification - Maintenance Service Worker II).
- This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement_
